![]() ![]() He actually got his real start touring with and opening up for Erik Griffin, iirc DL Hughley was the first comedian he ever opened for(pretty much after spamming comedians coming near him on twitter when he was a teenager) but Griffin took him on as his opener, oddly enough ,before his current "gimmick" i giess youd say, Matt apparently worked almost exclusively black crowds, (which tbh ive never seen the guys act but from what i have heard i also dont think im the target audience) but id imagine theres some talent there(which sort of conflicts with what I heard about him), it used to be(idk if this still holds true) if a white comic could kill in front of all black crowds he could kill anywhere. Many good magicians also had a few plants so at least something works if everything else fails -) it is also fun to ponder what is plausible and what could be fake. This is just an interactive version of it. Standup comedy in itself is about delivering a script as if you're making it up on the spot. But even then, is that enough reason not to say it?! When he starts correcting her she shouts "nooo, noo" and waves her hand aggressively so it is not like she was shy to get involved.Ĭonveniently, Matt also has his iPhone ready on a table so he can Google the spelling.Īlso, the "I drove 200 miles to see you" was a very convenient lead up to "To text on your phone?".Īnd who sits on the front row texting at a standup comedy show anyway?įake or not, that girl was good at leading up to good punch lines! If it is maybe it is more plausible she would realize he would joke about it. But I don't know if the aluminium thing is a common theme in English vs American pronounciation. It is a bit impressive she has essentially front run the aluminium joke. It could be a reference to fear of general roasting but the fact that she leaves specifically out what she is buying suggests you knows this word will be a trigger. Also, it almost seems as as if she is anticipating a joke about the aluminium pronounciation because she says she doesnt want to reveal what she is buying "I can't even say anything because. Further, the girl saying simply "I'm a buyer" seemed weird and served as a nice opening for "what do you buy, people? How bad can it be?" and Matt pressing for what it was she was buying. Note that just before the aluminium joke he makes another joke about the British accent ("bottle of water" without consonants etc). It could be is real and just a very lucky example but it just came across as a plant to me. The aluminium girl is actually what made me Google this.
